Approach

How an engagement works

One method, scaled to the size of the problem. It exists to do a single thing well: connect a business outcome to the KPI that tracks it and the process step that moves it — then use that connection to drive the work.

The method

Five steps, in order

1

Baseline

Establish current performance from your own operating data — not from assumption or anecdote. Before any recommendation, everyone agrees on where things actually stand today.

2

Define the KPIs

Agree the small set of metrics that genuinely map to the business outcome. A good KPI changes a decision when it moves; a vanity metric does not. We keep the set small and honest.

3

Diagnose

Trace where the process breaks the KPI, and why. This separates root causes from symptoms — so effort goes to the steps that actually move the number, not the ones that are simply easiest to change.

4

Redesign

Rebuild the process to move the metric. Changes are specific, sequenced, and each carries a cost-benefit case — so leadership can decide what to do with full sight of the trade-offs.

5

Sustain

Put the measurement and governance in place to keep the gain after the engagement ends. Improvement that depends on the consultant staying is not improvement — it is a dependency.

How recommendations are made

Standards-aligned, decision-ready

Recommendations map to recognized frameworks where it adds rigor and shared language — COBIT, DAMA-DMBOK, ISO 8000, ITIL 4, and TOGAF — rather than to a proprietary methodology you would have to take on faith.

Deliverables are built for the people who have to decide. That means:

  • The recommendation comes first; the background and reasoning follow it.
  • Every recommendation carries a cost-benefit framing — what it takes, what it returns.
  • Every risk is named with a proposed treatment, never raised and left open.
  • Each artifact ends with a clear decision to make or a defined next action.

Engagement model

An independent consultant, working at your level

Ronin Consultants is an independent practice engaged on a 1099 basis. That means senior, hands-on involvement without the overhead of a large firm — and the independence to give you a direct read, including the parts that are inconvenient.

Engagements are scoped to a defined outcome. If a smaller piece of work would answer your question, we will say so.
